Readloom Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026  ·  App package: app.readloom.offlinereader

Introduction

Readloom ("we", "our", or "the app") is an offline English learning reader for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, where that information is stored, and your choices.

Summary: Readloom does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. The app works without an account, without ads, and without requiring internet access for core reading and vocabulary features.

Information We Do Not Collect

Readloom is designed as a private, on-device app. We do not:

Because core features work offline, the app does not need to send your reading activity or vocabulary data over the internet to function.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

To provide its features, Readloom stores the following data only on your device:

This information remains on your device unless you delete it within the app, remove the app, or export it yourself using the backup feature described below.

Android Permissions

Readloom does not request sensitive Android runtime permissions such as camera, microphone, location, contacts, phone state, notifications, broad storage access, or access to all installed apps.

The release version of the app does not declare standard android.permission.* permissions for network, storage, camera, or similar capabilities.

How file access works

When you import books or export/import a backup, you choose files through Android's system document picker (Storage Access Framework). The app can access only the files you explicitly select. This does not require broad storage permissions on your device.

Internal Android components

Like many Android apps, Readloom may include standard AndroidX components that use app-internal, signature-level permissions for local system operations. These are not used to access your personal data and are not permissions you grant at install or runtime.

Backup and Export

Manual JSON backup

From Settings, you can export a JSON backup file to a location you choose. That backup may include your wordbook, bookmarks, highlights, reading progress, lookup history, and app preferences.

Book files are not included in JSON backups. If you restore a backup on the same or another device, you should re-import your original EPUB/TXT files first so reading progress and annotations can be matched correctly.

Android system backup

Readloom allows Android's backup mechanism (android:allowBackup="true"). If backup is enabled on your device, Android may include app data in encrypted device backups according to your system settings. We do not control how your device manufacturer or Google handles those backups.

Third-Party Services

The default Readloom app does not integrate third-party services that collect personal data for analytics, advertising, or cloud storage.

Readloom uses open-source libraries (such as Jetpack Compose and Room) that run locally on your device. No book content or vocabulary data is sent to the authors of those libraries through normal app use.

Offline Dictionary

Readloom includes a bundled offline dictionary seed for learning purposes. Dictionary lookups are processed on your device. We do not receive your search queries or lookup history.

Children's Privacy

Readloom does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). Because the app does not collect personal data through our systems, no parental consent process is required for data collection by us.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your data in the following ways:

Exported JSON backup files that you save outside the app remain under your control until you delete them.

International Users

Readloom processes information locally on your device. We do not transfer your personal data to our servers. If you export a backup file manually, you choose where that file is stored.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the in-app About & Privacy screen where appropriate.

Continued use of Readloom after an update means you accept the revised policy.
